Custom Shop Charvel Model 6
Here you have a unique 1987 Charvel Model 6 (serial# C708384) with Phil Wayne's Custom Shop finish and Custom Active Circuitry by “Toto”. This 1 of a kind Charvel Model 6 was custom designed by Wayne himself. The Model 6 guitars have been touted as one of the best neck thru Charvel/Jackson guitars ever produced (preferred by many over the Jackson Soloist).
-The Abalone Flame Custom Finish on this body is absolutely unique and stunning. The resin glasslike finish is near bullet-proof and adds resonance and depth to the tone.
- Maple Neck thru body: The neck thru construction provides great sustain and the neck is straight as an arrow. Frets are in great condition with minimal fret-ware. The neck is flat and D shaped, (thinner than an Ibanez wizard), jumbo frets and MOP "sharkies" sharkfin inlays. 25.5" scale.
-This guitar is in overall perfect condition.
-Original Jackson Pickups: J50BC Humbucker and 2 Jackson J200 Dual Coil Bi-Level Stacked Humbuckers (single coil size).
-JT-6 Jackson Floyd Rose Tremolo
Custom Circuitry by “Toto” includes active EXP and BCU circuit boards.
- The EXP is a combined equalizer circuit on a Push/Pull pot that has three unique functions in one unit. First is the frequency expander, second is a mid-band peak control and third is a flat booster.
Features include:
-Knob at 0; leads your pickup to sound weightier and rich by boosting the gain in a mid-range and reduce the low and high frequency range
-Knob at 5; leads your pickup to give the harmonics a boost. It is similar to ordinary flat booster.
-Knob at 10; gives your pickup crystal-clear and vivid tone by expanding the frequency range. It has a powerful bass and treble by boosting a high and low frequency range while mid range is 'V' shaped.
Just pull the knob to up to bypass EXP.
- The BCU is a multi tasking unit that features a push/pull pot sending the unit to a true bypass mode when in the down position.
When in the "on" position (up), the knob functions as a Tone Expander.
In the center (knob at about 5), it is a Harmonic Boost (adds lots of Sustain, and Harmonic Boost, with a slight mid-high band shift on the EQ). As you turn your knob down, you increase the Midrange in your sound. Giving you enough chunk to make the single coils sound as thick as a humbucker. However, if you turn the knob in the other direction, you boost the High & Low end of your tone (Scooping the Mids, like a "V" shaped EQ). This is very similar to the mod used by such legends as Eric Clapton.
Both the EXP and BCU work in tandem to afford you a myriad of different tones.
- The Volume Control is also a Push/Pull pot that acts as a kill switch for the Bridge pickup when in the up position.
- 3 Mini Switches:
-Mini switch #1 is a DPTT switch that controls the Bridge pickup and has three functions:
In the “up” position it puts the 2 coils in parallel with one another.
In the “middle” position is shuts off the North Coil leaving the South Coil on for a single pickup sound.
In the “down” position is puts both coils in series with one another.
-Mini Switch #2 is a SPDT switch that acts as an on/off switch for the middle pickup.
-Mini Switch #3 is a SPDT switch that acts as an on/off switch for the neck pickup.
*Also included are the original control pots and switches with the Jackson active mid boost JE-1200 circuit.
