If you are looking for a modern guitar with a late 70’s early 80’s flair, with sound versatility that lends itself to a vast variety of music styles (rock, pop, country, jazz; you name it); that has looks, class and ultimate playability...Then you have just described the Pantera.
This handmade custom piece was designed with the stage musician in mind. The trimmed body profile offers a unique striking look and lighter weight for minimal player fatigue on those long engagements. Yet she yields the rich sounds of a premium high end guitar weighing pounds more.
The Select Alder body, custom made Handwound Vintage pickups, electrical components, and the Expander Active Circuitry combine to make her a versatile and mammoth sounding instrument. The custom circuitry by Toto offers you virtually a nearly limitless myriad of sound variations from bright to dark, crisp to mellow, clean to mean!
Here are some of the features:
Ø Volume Pot: In the “up” position, the push/pull volume pot allows you to add the bridge pickup to the neck (5 way switch pos. 5) or to the neck & middle (5 way switch pos.4) giving you all 3 pickups at once.
Ø Tone Pot: CTS audio Taper
Ø EQ Pot: The push/pull Sonic Expander pot is a unique equalizer circuit board that has three (3) functions in one unit. First it’s a frequency expander, second a mid-band peak control, and third a flat booster. Unlike a conventional Bass/Middle/Treble equalizer system that changes the gain while controlling the frequencies, this circuit is designed to maintain consistent gain and boost a specific range. With the push/pull pot in the “down” position you choose whether you want to have a full mid-range or accentuated high and low frequencies with a turn of the knob.
-Knob at 0 boosts the gain in the mid-range and reduces the low and high frequency ranges.
-Knob at 5 similar to a ordinary (flat) booster but adds to the overall harmonics.
-Knob at 10 yields crystal clear vivid tone by expanding the overall frequency range giving you a very powerful bass and incredibly rich highs! Both the High and Low frequency ranges are boosted giving you a “V” shaped EQ.
(Simply pull the push/pull pot in the “up” position and you bypass the active EQ circuit).
As you can probably surmise, the variable sound capabilities of this guitar are nearly limitless!
We used a vintage Act 3 double locking Floyd Tremolo bridge out of our collection of rare vintage stock (from an early 80’s Matsumoko guitar) to add to it’s retro flair. This bridge is awesome, very rare, in perfect shape, and keeps the guitar solidly in tune throughout even the most radical dive bomb bends.
Her custom body shape and size makes for a terrific stage guitar weighing in at only 7 lbs. 10 oz. This is a lightweight guitar with MONSTER SOUND!
The hand done artwork on the body and headstock speaks for itself (although the picture renderings don’t adequately capture the actual beauty of the finish or the subtle nuances of the marbleized artwork). However, in person this axe is absolutely stunning!
This guitar is being sold as “Pre-owned” because it has been out on loan and used in a number of professional studio situations and because of some of the vintage parts that were used to create this beauty were old stock vintage parts. However, no one has actually owned this guitar and it is in pristine condition and still looks like new. The neck is thin, fast, plays like butter, has very minimal fretware, and the Grover tuners keep the tuning spot on. Overall the guitar rates a true 9.5 out of 10.
This is the perfect marriage between old school vibe and modern eclecticism. This unique high end custom guitar offers you the ultimate in looks, sound and playability. Truly an enviable axe!
